Introduction
“you can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you can not fool all all the people all the time”
Americans annually spend over 60 billion dollars on fat loss products and services, according to Marketdata Enterprises, March 2013. The failure rate is astronomical depending on who you read. There is a classic figure of 95% that surfaces in the literature and different web sites (New York Times, 1999). Let us give the fat loss industry a fair go at this and say it is a 50% failure rate. I think most of us would agree that this is unacceptable. The people who have conveniently positioned themselves to help us with this major crisis are at best outright liars, or at worst truly do not care about anything except lining their pockets. Imagine that a new computer you just purchased worked only 50% of the time, I assure you that company would not be in business very long. So why do we put up with this madness?
A big part of the problem are unscrupulous infomercials and diet “experts” attempting to sell us cures for $29.95. If we are to be on the winning end of the fat loss “wars”, we need to start applying a common sense approach to our nutrition and fitness programs. Common sense is a difficult thing to come by in the field of fitness and nutrition. If you are looking for the quick way, or a magic bullet, this information will not be your cup of tea. What I have to say may be interpreted, as sheer naiveté by the multibillion-dollar world of fat loss, but these are my honest observations based on over 25 years of experience with real people. Information gleaned from working with many clients, in many different parts of the country. I want to share with you how to save time, money, and stay safe in your efforts to get healthy. We need to stay on a practical and sensible track and not wander down the endless corridors of nonsense being offered by the media and fat loss personalities, no matter how well intentioned they may be.
The purpose of this site is to address the fitness needs of the following:
People who are just starting out with a health and fitness program.
People who have tried many of the weight loss gizmos, plans, fat burning supplements, etc. with little or no success.
People that are getting back into fitness after a long layoff or after physical therapy.
It addresses the needs of a population that has the most to gain from a sensible, functional fitness program-our venerable seniors.
